In the NWO-TTW funded Light on Landscape project (follow-up of Light on Nature) we study the impact of artificial light at night (ALAN) on nocturnal species: bats, mice, mustelids and amphibians. We want to know how these species respond to light of different colour
composition and intensity, and how this affects their spatial behaviour – from the direct surroundings of light sources to wider-scale landscape use. We aim to link species-specific effects to changes in the food web, and to make knowledge available to governmental organizations and the lighting industry, in effort to mitigate impact of artificial light.
